Embark on the path to the Mesa.

Philosophy

Choosing a high school is a big decision that isn’t easy, and we are thrilled you’re considering spending four years with us. Do you always have more questions for your teachers? Do you want to go to school with classmates from around the world? Do you like making things happen at your school? If that sounds like you, we may be a perfect match. We are always seeking new students to join our community—independent, adventurous minds who will take advantage of our inquiry-based curriculum and picturesque mesa location by the shore.

With over 42% students of color, Cate is committed to maintaining a diverse community for each one of you to thrive in. We strive to enroll exceptional students who have all different types of perspectives, interests and backgrounds.

Tuition for boarders is $58,050 and for day students is $46,280. We recognize tuition may be a challenge for some families and each year Cate offers more than $3.2 million in need-based financial aid to 35% of the student body.

A Note from Our Director

When I first visited Cate, I was in 8th grade and in the midst of deciding where to go to high school. I ultimately chose Cate. The reasons for that decision are still in force today: a rigorous and stimulating curriculum, a chance to explore new things, a passionate and dedicated faculty, and the potential to develop life-long friendships. Now, thirty years later, I work and live at the School, helping you and your family learn more about the Cate experience.

Choosing a school is a multi-faceted process. A website can never give you all the information you’ll need to truly know a school, but I hope ours will help you get started. Then I encourage you to schedule a visit to really see us in action.

We look forward to getting to know you, and would love to introduce you to our students, our teachers, and the school we make together.
